Today was my first time trying out a half moon manicure. It’s a look I really like and I had two polishes I’d yet to wear that I thought would contrast well together, so I gave it a go using some clear hole reinforcement stickers I picked up from Whitcoulls. I used Color Club Twiggie (a neon light green) and Wink, Wink, Twinkle (a neon fuchsia-purple with silver glitter). I’m really happy with the result and I love the these colours together!
Twiggie has a semi-gloss finish, not quite as satin-matte as many neons are. The formula was a bit goopy and I’ll be adding some thinner to it. It also easily developed sheer spots so I had to be careful and do a little patching. I used two coats. Wink, Wink, Twinkle I really love. The silver glitter is suspended evenly throughout the base and gives a lot of depth — you get some glitter on the surface, and some with that submerged look. The formula was easy to work with, very pigmented, and it dries to a typical satin-matte with a rather novel plastic look on the nail. I used one coat over the reinforcement stickers. The Color Club brushes are decent, perhaps a little small. Because I wanted longevity in my mani — I’m going to Wellington this weekend for A Large Pink Woman‘s engagement do — I added Poshe topcoat. But I’ve included a picture hopefully showing Wink, Wink, Twinkle‘s plastic-like satin finish below.
